“IT’S
NOT JUST A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE.
IT’S A BETTER LIFE.”
Compensation Solutions Participates in
Paterson Habitat for Humanity’s Corporate
Challenge
OAKLAND, NEW JERSEY
– June 26, 2006 – Former President Bill Clinton might very well have
been speaking about Paterson Habitat for Humanity when he said:
“Everybody counts. Everybody deserves a chance. Everybody’s got a
responsibility to fulfill. We all do better when we work together. Our
differences do matter, but our common humanity matters more.”
Compensation Solutions (COMPSolutions), one of the tri-state area’s
leading Professional Employer Organizations (PEO), recently spent two
Friday afternoons working side by side with other volunteers at the 2006
Corporate Challenge for Habitat for Humanity. Between June 5th and June 17th,
volunteers from more than thirty businesses climbed scaffolding, swung
hammers, framed rooms, installed doors and painted walls with the
families who will eventually move into these Habitat homes.
Families selected for the Habitat
program must meet the following criteria: they must have a need for
housing; they must have residency in Passaic County; they must have an
ability to pay the “no-profit” mortgage; and they must complete 500
hours of “sweat equity” and other homeownership training
requirements. Families buy their homes from Paterson Habitat after
paying 1% of the purchase price along with closing costs. The houses are sold at no profit and Habitat finances a
zero-interest mortgage. Paterson Habitat has built over 170 homes in the
city of Paterson since it began about twenty-two years ago in October
1984, and the long-term goal is to complete 208 homes by 2008.
“COMPSolutions
is a company that promotes teamwork, so it is a natural fit for us to
participate in this wonderful team effort to build homes for our
neighbors in Paterson, “ said Thomas J. Cioffe, President and CEO.
“Paterson Habitat for Humanity provides benefits to those who give of
their time and efforts by strengthening community relations, encouraging
teamwork and developing leadership skills. But most of all, it simply
feels good when you are part of the team that makes a family’s dream
of home ownership come true.”
