Compensation Risk Management Best Practices Certification from the
Certification Institute (“CI”).
Workers’ Compensation (“WC”) risk management is a critically

certification program was developed to provide independent
verification that a PEO’s risk management program is meeting proven
insurance industry risk management best practices to reduce
work-related accidents and health exposures and to control WC

important risk management results. Certification also provides WC
insurance companies with ongoing assurance that a PEO is in fact

The Workers Compensation Risk Management Best Practices
Certification Program was developed through the cooperative efforts
of Workers Compensation insurance companies and PEO industry risk
managers and insurance brokers with the support of the National
Association of Professional Employer Organizations (“NAPEO”) and the
Employer Services Assurance Corporation (“ESAC”) to enhance industry
credibility in this key service area. The independent, non-profit
Certification Institute administers the program. To ensure that a
broad industry prospective is considered, the Certification Board
relies on an advisory board comprised of highly qualified PEO Risk
Managers and insurance brokers for technical review and advice.
